Who Says

This post is about "Who Says" by Selena Gomez. This is one of the most motivational songs that I have heard. It's not my usual music (I'm a total Swiftie), but it makes me feel good about myself. The first lines read "I wouldn't wanna be anybody else. You made me insecure, told me I wasn't good enough. But, who are you to judge." Here, I feel like people have made her very insecure in the past. They all told her that she wasn't worth it. At one point she probably would have believed it. Finally, she realizes that people don't have the right to judge. She realizes that no one can bring her down.

Then she says, "I'm sure you got some things you'd like to change about yourself. But when it comes to me, I wouldn't wanna be anybody else." Here, she reminds us that everyone has self-doubts. Everyone has things about themselves that they want to change about themselves. Now, she is confident in herself and says that she wouldn't change anything about herself. She has regained her self-esteem. She says that there's no one she'd rather be than herself.

Then, when she says "I'm no beauty queen. I'm just beautiful me," she is telling us that everyone is beautiful in their own way. They don't have to win a beauty pageant to be considered beautiful. This is something that everyone has to hear. Today, beauty is standard. There are ways that you have to look to be considered beautiful. I agree with Selena when she says these lines. Beauty is based on individual tastes.

The next few lines read "Who says you're not perfect? Who says you're not worth it? Who says you're the only one that's hurting? Trust me. That's the price of beauty." Here, she's telling us that no one has the right to make us feel inferior. No one can without our consent. She also reminds us that everyone has problems. When she says that that's the price of beauty, I feel like she's telling us that nothing can be achieved without pain and struggle.

In her bridge, she is telling us that we can do anything that we set our minds to. She says that we are capable of achieving all of our dreams.

I really love Selena for giving us this song. At first glance, it seemed like a simple upbeat song. When I looked at the lyrics, I saw that Selena was really trying to give us something that we really needed. If you haven't heard this song yet, go check it out now.
