What does it mean if something is aesthetic?

It's pleasing. It's pleasant. It's easy on the eyes. It could be appealing physically or otherwise. It might be something that's well organized. Organized chaos. It's beautiful. It's pretty. There a thousand other ways you could try to explain what aesthetic means.

What are some ways you could make your writing more aesthetic and appealing?

There are obvious techniques like making sure you have your own personal writing style. Making sure you don't copy off of anyone and that your work is original. Do some research about the genre or form that you are writing in to make sure it appeals to your ideal readers.

However, there is something a little more interesting I want to share. Use your style sparingly. If you keep writing in the same way, readers are going to get bored with it. For example, imagine every single sentence you write ends with an exclamation mark. Readers are probably wondering why you're constantly trying to shout information at them. It's the same way with a specific style, element, or motif that you use and are very good at. That might be your expertise, but it doesn't mean you have to use it all the time.

Using it over and over again is going to make your writing less appealing, because your readers won't know what to give importance to and what is just a regular sentence. Variety in writing is important. Even if you have a specialization. Here, I don't mean that you need to keep switching genres once you have decided what you have to do. You don't even have to switch forms either. What you can do is change your style a little. It will keep readers hooked on to what you have to say and leave them wondering when you are going to use your 'special touch' again.

That will make your writing appealing, and therefore, aesthetic.
