My First IPL Match
Yesterday, I got to go to the CSK - LSG match at Chepauk Stadium. My dad has been saying he'd take me to a game for the past couple of years, and I had been eagerly waiting for it. I've heard stories about the aura and vibe of the stadium.
Now, before you ask, I am not really into cricket much. I don't really watch games. When I do, I can barely understand what's happening. However, this is one experience that I am glad I didn't miss.
The game started out 'not good.' LSG scored high in the first few overs. Unfortunately, I don't remember the exact stats. I was more focused on the energy there than exactly watching the game (Don't judge guys). The score was 203. CSK needed 204 to win.
CSK had an amazing start (in my unprofessional opinion). One of the players broke a record for the fastest joint 50 - in 13 balls. Then... things went downhill. And with that 'downhill' came a drop in energy. People started to curse at players for missing an easy hit, and to start groaning in dissappointment.
I was starting to get worried. Since this was the first time I was watching a match in person, I obviously wanted to win. I was also starting to lose excitement. Until... the very last over when the players hit 2 sixes in a row, winning the game. (For a bit of context... the last 3 overs were very tight and tense).
But yea... when we won, I started jumping. My dad was recording the last ball and he taped me jumping like a 5-year-old.
All in all, the vibe part was true. All around me, I saw people groaning and oohing. People were dancing in the middle of the game for no apparent reason - old and young. Then the speakers and the crowd were in sync. I'm not really sure how to explain it, but it was electrifying. The cheering, the jumping, the vibrations, the energy...
Would I do it again, I'm not totally sure - it was hard to get there, and it was extremely sunny, though the energy made up for it.
