First Day of Class

Today was my first actual day of classes at LeTourneau University. My day started off pretty early, with my first class at 8am. The classes here are 80 minutes long, which is way longer than I am used to. However, the classes were pretty interesting and I managed to pay attention to the whole session without drifting away.

My first class was Introduction to Literary Studies. There were surprisingly only 5 people in my class. We started off with some introductions and looked into the syllabus. I was shocked to see a detailed plan for every single class mentioned in the syllabus, complete with the assigned reading and homework assignments.

My second class was right after that, at 9.30. It was English Comp I and we were going to be learning how to write better, which was something I was looking forward to - to learn to be a better writer than I already am.

Then, I had a long break in between classes, up until 3pm. However, I wanted to use that time well and make sure I wasn't going to be tired during class. I decided to go do some of my homework that was due on Sunday. I wanted to make sure it didn't pile up and that I'd have enough time to do it properly. I ended up finishing a good part of the assignment and was pretty proud of myself for doing that instead of wasting my time.

Finally, my last class for the day was Modern and Contemporary Poetry. I think it was the timing of the class, but I had so much trouble staying awake throughout the session.

There were some things I noticed that I wanted to talk about as well. So, I was the only person who arrived at, class early, and who wished the teacher, and who had a notebook and pen in class. That just felt like it was what I cultivated at MCC and I was taking it forward, upholding tradition and the reputation of the college. It was really nice to notice that and I plan on following it throughout my semester.
