You Won? Did you really?

Strut around knowing you won 
You have everything you need 
Your every desire fulfilled without hesitation
It comes at a price

You lost the girl who would do anything for you
Who gave herself up to you
Body and soul 
Her peace depended on you 

You lost the girl who revolved around you
Your own personal moon 
She waited on you day and night 
For the moment when you'd see what was happening 

You lost the girl who suppressed her needs for yours
Her smile faded before your eyes 
Her spark disappeared
Slowly dying from the inside out 

You lost the girl who took care of herself on her own
So you could have the best version of her
She whispered your name in the dark, like a prayer
Sobbing, hoping you'd hear her cries

You lost the girl whom you brought back to life
After a thousand deaths
She put her faith in you 
She lived for you 

You lost the girl who put her emotions aside for you
Hiding things that would hurt you 
Her emotions became worthless 
Useless and meant never to be seen 

You lost the girl who adapted herself to you 
Who hung on your every word 
Your very breath
Your essence was her life source

You lost the girl who saw past the anger 
And saw you for you 
Who found beauty in your chaos
And embraced it as it overshadowed her

You lost the girl who fought for you
Even when you let her defend herself
The girl who absorbed your storm
Unafraid of it, embracing it. 

You lost the girl who never asked for anything
Afraid to ask and hope
She realized that her voice was no more than a disturbance
She bit her tongue until it bled

You lost the girl who understood your struggles
And made sure not to push you too far
She made sure not to distract you 
Or talk about trivial things that weren't so trivial to her

You lost the girl who gave you everything she had
Until she didn't know what else she had to give
She gave you her entire self, everything she had to offer
She's dry and can't recognize herself

You say she brought you peace
She is your crown jewel
Your treasure 
Your world

But did you see her fade in front of your eyes?
Your needs were met
You were peaceful
You WON! But you lost the girl who submitted herself to you 

She's still there, waiting for you to realise one day
How she changed 
For you to wonder where your bright girl went
She's gone. You killed her.

A Tribute to My Seniors

  Before I start, I’d like to say that this is a very personal post, dedicated to a few very special individuals.  Anderlin, Sharan, Shane, and Mugunthan.  Technically they are my seniors, but they have become something more. These guys are the reason I made it through the year and have become irreplaceable brother figures to me. I may not call them ‘Anna,’ but the respect they earned from me is immeasurable. I still remember the first time I saw them. I was at an ethnic walk practice. It was only my second day there and I wasn’t very confident yet.  The four of them weren’t around on the first day of practice.  That’s when they arrived. They appeared, walking in a straight line. They looked so majestic and powerful that they scared me. They came to stand in front of me and I remember chills running down my spine. Katha Utsav @MCC

On the 28th and 29th of December, Katha Publishers conducted a workshop in the MRF Innovation Park at MCC. As soon as I knew this workshop was coming up, I knew I wanted to go. My professor told me how prestigious this workshop was. I didn't totally believe him until I saw the crowds that arrived at MCC.  This workshop was intended for schoolchildren, but we MCCians had a special session since we were hosting it. I was also a volunteer for the workshop. My Saturday morning started pretty early. I rushed to campus by 7:30 and sprung into action. The day started out with decorating the venue. Soon after, parents and their children started arriving. There were people from out of state. They had come just for the workshop. I sprung into action with the rest of the team, guiding children and their parents around the building.  Once everyone was settled, it was time for our session. I loved the sessions.
