Femininity?

Why do guys think it's okay to tease a woman for not being feminine? No woman can be a girly girl all the time. Why do guys think it's okay to tease a woman for being a woman. Like - dude - make up your mind for god's sake, please. You tease us for being feminine and for not being feminine. What on earth do you want us to do then? 

Sometimes, a girl doesn't want to travel in the ladies' compartment on the train. That's okay. Right? Guys, do you know what happens in there? You literally can't breathe. If a woman is traveling - with her companions - in the general compartment, most men try to give her a bit of breathing room. Or, have you considered that she isn't comfortable traveling on her own? Is that not a valid reason to travel in the general compartment with her friends? Why does that have to be a question of her femininity or independence? Does that mean she is dependent, cowardly, or irresponsible? I don't think so. 

Why do guys have to say 'Why were you born a girl?' Stop to think for a moment of how the girl would feel when she hears that. In today's society, when she has to be so cautious all the time, think of how she would feel when someone she trusts says that to her. 

Then, there's the old standby of 'I forgot that you were even a girl.' Why is it that when a girl hangs out with a bunch of guys, she loses her femininity? What's the connection there? 

The point I'm making is why a woman has to be defined by what she does, her likes and preferences, the company she keeps, and her comfort zone. Please, just let her be a girl. Let her be her own person without judging her. The things she does doesn't make her any less deserving of your respect. If you have opinions, keep them to yourself. Think of the effect they have on her. Do you think this girl is going to want to look at you after you have questioned her femininity?

    Trying to bring someone down by stereotyping their gender shows how insecure and narrow minded they are. You can't really change their perspective on how the opposite gender is because they refuse to look at other perspectives and examples which says otherwise. As they say, "A narrow mind and a fat head invariably come on the same person."

A Tribute to My Seniors

  Before I start, I’d like to say that this is a very personal post, dedicated to a few very special individuals.  Anderlin, Sharan, Shane, and Mugunthan.  Technically they are my seniors, but they have become something more. These guys are the reason I made it through the year and have become irreplaceable brother figures to me. I may not call them ‘Anna,’ but the respect they earned from me is immeasurable. I still remember the first time I saw them. I was at an ethnic walk practice. It was only my second day there and I wasn’t very confident yet.  The four of them weren’t around on the first day of practice.  That’s when they arrived. They appeared, walking in a straight line. Just Say "I Loved You The Way That You Were."

This is another lyric from The Tortured Poet's Department The Anthology. It's from the song "Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus." The lyrics that I want to talk about read "If you wanna break my cold, cold heart just say, 'I loved you the way that you were.'"  These lines touched me. I feel like Taylor is telling us that her lover didn't like the way that she changed. She says that telling her that he loved the way that she was in the past is basically telling her that he doesn't love how she is now. I mean, she could have had her reasons for changing. She has the eyes of the world on her and wouldn't do things without thinking things through.  Yes. People change. If someone can't stick around to learn why, did they even love you to begin with?
