Fearless

There's a picture that the chorus of this song paints in my head. The chorus goes "'Cause I don't know how it gets better than this. You take my hand and drive me head first. Fearless. And I don't know why but with you I'd dance in a storm in my best dress. Fearless."

So here it goes. There's a girl who's usually very prim and proper. She prefers to stay indoors. She sticks to things she is familiar with and she doesn't regret it. She is the last person you would expect to be outdoors. But, for this one guy, she would set aside her morals. She would do anything for him.

This reminds me a bit of an argument between Damon and Elena from The Vampire Diaries. Elena says that she sets aside her morals and everything that she believes in for Damon. Now, this might seem toxic, but in the song, this just shows how pure the love between the two people is.

This perfect girl is willing to dance in a storm in her best dress. It shows that she cares for the guy more than she cares for the dress. Now I don't think the dress literally means a dress. I think it's a metaphor. The girl is telling us how she would put the guy first and how she would prioritize him over other things that she likes - here, the dress. She tells us that she would sacrifice 'the dress' for the boy.

It shows how much she loves him. It shows that she is willing to change herself because she thinks that he is worth it. Now, some change in a new relationship is perfectly fine. The thing to remember is to make sure not to lose your own individuality. You can sacrifice certain things for your partner but you have to remember that you are still your own person. You can't give up everything you love for them. There has to be a middle ground.

  1. To leave everything you hold dear just to stand by your significant other to prove your loyalty may sound hardcore in fairytales. But as much as it sounds cool, it's toxic to yourself. It just shows a severe lack of accountability and responsibility and proves that the person is willing to give up precious things which must be cherished, just to prove their loyalty.

    1. Here, I'm not talking about this gesture to a toxic extent. I'm talking about how your significant other makes you discover things about yourself that you might not have known before. They introduce you to new experiences.
