The Story of How I Drove My Friend Home
Before today, I’ve only driven 2 bikes – yes, the ones with gears. The first time was in a secluded location, so I wasn’t in danger of crashing into anything or falling. The second time was a Pulsar NS200, which I managed not to crash either. The second time didn’t really count, my friend was the one doing the driving. I was sitting in front of him, pretending to hold on to the throttle (I think that’s what it’s called) like a little kid.
My best friend and I have had a running joke of me driving him home. Today, I
finally got to put my words into action. I persuaded my friend to pull over
after we were off the main road. He obliged and let me get on in front of him.
He reminded me of the controls – the clutch, gear shift, throttle, and
the brakes.
“Remember to only use the back brake!” he instructed. That was a point
of conflict for me. I remember reading Twilight, where Jake tells Bella that
the back brake is dangerous and to only use the brake with her hand. He had
previously explained the reason behind his words to me and I decided to trust
him. I soon realized that using my leg to brake made me lose balance. “Just use
your hand for now,” he conceded grudgingly.
I managed not to crash or drop the bike. However, the bike did stop a
couple of times. (I forgot to change the gear according to the speed.) I'm determined to learn how to do this flawlessly within the week.
Overall, I was really proud that I could actually drive my friend home. I’m
also really thankful to him for trusting me enough to sit behind me. I’d also
like to take a moment to let everyone know that he was a really patient
teacher. He didn’t lose his cool when the bike turned off or when I used the ‘wrong’
break.
Pay up for breaking my gear box 💀

Sounds like a lot of fun! Learning to ride a bike comes in really handy. You should definitely get a license for it if you haven't already.
